The start of 2016 has been very eventful at Produktworks! From a new office to a new employee to celebrating our eighth year as a company, Produktworks has continued to grow and expand.
EXPANDED OFFICE SPACE
On the first day of 2016, a construction crew entered our office and started tearing down walls. It was finally time for the highly anticipated office build-out! Over the course of five days, the crew transformed our office from a one-sided space into an open 1,500 square foot office. Produktworks Design doubled in size in just one week. Overall, we ended up with a much larger office space, a new prototyping room, a waiting area, and even a second bathroom!
Just a few months later, Google Fiber came to our part of South Austin, and we jumped at the chance to reach near-gigabit speeds. Our internet rocketed from 18 mbps to 945 mbps upload. Hopefully we’ll still be productive at work with all of this extra bandwidth.
NEW MECHANICAL ENGINEER
In March, we welcomed Annie Cardinal to our team as a mechanical engineer. She earned her Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Robotics from Princeton University. Annie has experience with the integration of electro-mechanical systems, developed search and rescue robots and programmed autonomous drones.
Although she’s California born and bred, she has fully immersed herself in Austin life and is loving the barbecue and tacos. We like that about her!
PRODUKTWORKS’ EIGHTH ANNIVERSARY
Produktworks Design just celebrated its eighth anniversary! To celebrate, we took our families to The Escape Game Austin and escaped from Alcatraz with five minutes to spare. As icing on the cake, our escape room only had a 20% success rate! That’s what happens when engineers are locked in a room for an hour with solving puzzles as the only way out. We bonded as a team and enjoyed having our families along with us for the ride.
