Welcome to Clandestine

An award-winning consultancy located in Austin, Texas and Singapore, Clandestine Product Development provides high-value creative services related to technology product development. We excel at finding solid, reliable solutions to complex design and engineering problems.

We operate on the simple premise that great design and engineering is a collaborative effort. Our multi-talented and multi-disciplinary team has the experience to tackle even the toughest product challenges and we work to ensure that you get the very best solutions possible.

We use our diversity to positively affect every project we work on. Our truly global approach makes us a unique and excellent partner for your product development needs.

Our Culture

We’re privileged to have built a business around a great group of people. Our team makes us tick, and they make our firm better everyday. We are designers and engineers, nurturers and confidants, thinkers and tinkerers. We’re nimble, sharp and highly attentive. We do what we do because we love it.

We have real people with real interests. Whether we spend our free time cooking, camping, or competing in the company Pitch N Putt tournament, our passions inspire our work.

We are lucky to have our firm in Austin, a city we all love, so we foster a culture of giving back to the community whenever possible. We have given talks and have been panelists on product development and entrepreneurship at SXSW, Austin Community College, the Ann Richards School for Young Women Leaders and The University of Texas at Austin. Our annual volunteering activities include the Junior League’s Coats for Kids, and Partnerships for Children’s Holiday Wishes.

Our Studio

Clandestine Product Development is located on historic South Congress Avenue, just 4 miles south of downtown Austin. Rapid development in the St Elmo district means that we’re walking distance to great restaurants, breweries, and other creative businesses.

We purchased our studio space in 2018 and we’re excited for this to be our long term home for the foreseeable future. Our studio is a modern, creative environment that has all the technology needed for us to do great work; from the latest CAD packages, to a full service prototyping shop and of course, coffee. Lots and lots of coffee.

Meet the Team

Redza in an alleyway

Redza Shah

Principal

Having only lived in hot, sunny places like Singapore & Dubai, Redza maintained his commitment to cold-aversion by moving to Texas over 20 years ago. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin. Upon graduation, he embarked on a product development career as a Mechanical Design Engineer, before founding Produktworks Design (now Clandestine Product Development) in 2008. He currently has 10 US and World Patents on his punch card and is still waiting for that free Happy Meal from the USPTO. Wait, that's how it works, right?

Cameron Navarre

Project Lead/Mechanical Engineer

Originally from Cle Elum in central Washington, Cameron graduated with a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Washington State University in 2012. He spent the early part of his engineering career in Seattle, WA before heading for warmer climes in Texas in 2017. He brings a breadth of development experience, from consumer products to aerospace. Despite being from the Pacific Northwest, we were horrified to find out that he does not drink coffee (That's okay, more for the rest of us!). A diehard Seattle Seahawks and WSU fan (Those are sports ball teams right?), he also loves to hike, play flag football and basketball.

Milan Smart

Project Lead/Mechanical Engineer

Having grown up in Orlando, Milan is (to everyone's disbelief) an actual proud Floridian. He received his Mechanical Engineering degree from Georgia Tech, with a focus on mechatronics, and spent the early part of his career in the semiconductor industry. As a passionate product developer and entrepreneur, he has even launched a couple of his own products. We would include a link to them here but he refuses to pay Clandestine an affiliate fee...so we won't. In his spare time, he likes to experiment in the kitchen, play guitar or explore Austin's great nightlife.
Dalyce head shot

Dalyce Brooks

Accounting Manager

Although born and raised in Texas, Dalyce still managed to become a vegetarian. She graduated with a BFA from Texas State University and as our Accounting Manager, uses her analytical skills keep our financials into tip top shape. She is fluent in QuickBooks Online, has a special interest in modernizing business practices and gently reminds us every week to update our damn time sheets. She lives in the woods with her husband, her daughter and two ragdoll cats. Sometimes she knits.

James Mansour

Mechanical Engineer

A native born Texan, Jim spent 5 years in the United States Marine Corp as an F-18 Avionics Technician before earning his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin 'a long time ago'. He brings a wealth of professional and personal experience to the Clandestine team. On most weekends, you can find him on Lady Bird Lake in his canoe, or traveling and camping in places like Big Bend. He lives in an eclectic part of old Austin with his cat, lovingly named *checks notes* Kitty!

Arturo Parra Ramos

Mechanical Engineer

Born and raised in Peru, Arturo moved to the US to earn his degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston. He discovered his love of product development during his Capstone Design project and he brings that infectiousness, and curiosity, to the Clandestine team. He loves soccer, is a passionate Real Madrid supporter and currently dealing with the emotional turmoil of Peru not qualifying for the 2022 World Cup. In his free time, he enjoys playing guitar and listening to vinyl records. Sometimes he brings Peruvian treats to the office...and then has to explain to everyone what they're called. We just call them delicious....
Deepak wearing a glass eye

Deepak Selvaraj

Industrial Design Consultant

Deepak was born in Coimbatore, India in the foothills of the Western Ghats. After receiving a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Amrita University, he moved to the United States to pursue his passion for design. He earned his Master's degree in Industrial Design from Georgia Tech and has an impressive collection of only black, grey or white shirts (Not sure if those are related, but there you go). When not obsessing over curvature continuous surfaces, he enjoys cooking, having a fairly irregular workout schedule, watching the latest Netflix series or indulging in his newfound interest, Formula 1.
